Great Basin National Park
Here we are setting up to build a small wall.
This is one of the completed retaining walls.
Here is another one finished. We built eight stone walls in the upper Lehman Campground in the Great Basin National Park. This was a great project! This is a beautiful place to work in the summer.
Bryce Canyon National Park
The folks at Bryce wanted to upgrade some old entrance signs. I built these for them with the help of Brad Quinn who supplied the stone. They don't have the lettering on them yet in these pictures but they will soon. Look for these on your way to and from Tropic Utah.
Zion National Park
The folks at Zion National park wanted a new sign. I put this together for them. We used bigger stones to give it an old school look from the 1930's.
Whitewater Dory in Westwater canyon
Mike Harris and I took the whitewater dory, the Devils Slide through Westwater Canyon of the Colorado river in June. The water was running at 16,000 CFS. The dory made it through and made it look easy! This is a great boat!

Whitewater Dory
I took the old carpet off which turned out to be a big project. It just would not work here in the southwest because the rivers we run here are muddy sometimes.
Filled in pop rivet holes.
Put on a new eyelet.
Took off this eyelet
and put this one on.
I built his adjustable foot brace.
Sanded down the boat, etched it and treated it with alodine.
Then I got my old friend Allis Chalmers to help me turn her over
This is how I turn my boats over.

And this is how she turned out. She is named after a rapid covered over by Lake Mead.

Whitewater Dory
I bought this old boat trailer.
And rebuilt it into a trailer for a drift boat.
I drove to Boise Idaho and met up with Ron and purchased the boat. He has plenty of other boats in his quiver so he parted with this one.
Here it is after sliding it onto the trailer. Notice Ron has a little friend?
The wind was blowing pretty hard so the little bird had to really hang on tight!
. Thanks Ron! I found out the boat was built in 1978 by Bruce Koffler. Its been on rivers all over western Canada and Alaska. Ron took great care with it and it is in excellent shape!
