Zion overlook project
This little project is in Zion National Park. Roy Madeson and I worked on this for seven weeks. We first dug the footings, poured them and then laid up the block. Then the concrete guys poured the sidewalk. That is Roy and Blake in the picture. We worked with Eddie Lopez and Stephanie Loud on this job.
This is the new stonework on the stairs matching the 1929 work.
We then laid up the stone on the south side, matching the old 1929 work as closely as we could. This is the new stair landing and new A/C pad area.
We were able to break up this boulder that had fallen into a narrow part of the road and use it in the wall. It was an exact match for the color we needed. Architect was Kim Campbell. Overseeing the job for the NPS was Jim Butterfus.
