Decked over aluminum drift boat or white water dory

I saw this boat on Craigslist and noticed it was decked over which is very unusual. I drove to Washington and picked up this 1981 Alumaweld drift boat  then tested it on a Diamond down river trip the next week. Then into the shop she went to get fixed up.  I tore out the old floor. and then welded where it needed so the compartments would be water tight. Then painted the bottom with a silicone based slippery coating. Then painted the hull and applied the vinyl letters. She is, I guess it's a she, is named "Last Chance" after a rapid that was covered by Lake Mead and also a campsite in the grand canyon. Now on to the interior work.

I've been busy building a couple of gates for my place.I used spark plugs for the plume on the yucca plant. These were fun little projects and they add a nice whimsical look to my house.

I helped Brad Quinn install a nice sandstone veneer on this home owned by Paul Allen. We matched up the original stone perfectly on this addition. Great place to work! Thanks, Paul!

Roy Madison, his son Skyler and put the stone on this house in Cannonville, Utah. This was a very tough job for a lot of reasons like remote location, difficulty in getting water and power and a low bid. If all the jobs were this tough and unrewarding I would not be a stone mason. The only good out of this is knowing we did a good job inspite the hardships.

P-pump conversion, Dodge Cummins

So my VP-44 injector pump died again for the second time on my Dodge Cummins diesel truck. It broke on the last river trip and let everyone down. It was hot and we were three days getting it and the trailer with the boat back to my place.  So I went to Phoenix to Escorpion auto wrecking where Mynor and Joe had a P-7100 pump, gear case, gear cover, support bracket and oil lines. All for $800.00 dollars. That is a P 7100-pump above in the picture. I fabricated all my own throttle linkage and brackets like this one.

This bracket supports my ECM. I bent and reused my old injection lines with original injectors. This is a huge job! But it works! I am driving it around now and it works great! I could not have done this withoutt the help of online images and articles . Thanks to all! I have about 35,000 mile on it.

Leeds Bishop's storehouse

 Ken and Patricia Hadley are restoring the Bishop's storehouse or tithing house in Leeds Utah. The stone around the back door had been torn out by a previous owner who had the idea of making the doorway bigger, but then found out he should have left it original size because of its historical nature So, that was a problem. Also, the pioneer lumber supporting the basement door had rotted out and was failing. So, that was the second problem.

 We cut out two new headers from a stone that was a very close match to the existing headers on the building.

 I built the corners back up around the door.

 Ken removed the rotten lumber and stones above the basement door.

And here is the doorway finished and ready for the new landing. Now, doesn't this look great? Aren't we glad we hired a stone mason to fix this up? Ken was a great help on this project.
